New Delhi, Sept 17 (UNI) Kolkata-based Duncans Tea Ltd today said it will invest Rs 18 crore for re-launching its range and introduce new products.
''We will invest 10 crore of our turnover for re-launching existing products and introducing new products like green tea, super premium tea etc,'' company Chief Operating Officer M C Appaiah told reporters here.
The company has also entered into unique tie-ups for marketing its products in the country. ''We are in partnership with companies like BPCL, HPCL and IRCTC (Indian Railways) for distributing our products. A partnership with the Indian Post is also expected to be announced in a month's time,'' Mr Appaiah said.
The company has launched new products like Aaag (in the economy range), Double Diamond Gold, Green Tea (super premium range) etc.
India contributes a major portion of the world's tea demand after Kenya and Sri Lanka. Due to the production shortfall in Kenya, the demand for tea has increased and India's tea exports for the January-July period this year has already increased 19 per cent.
Total exports during the said period was 105.6 million kg, compared with 88.9 million kg during the corresponding period a year ago. Production during the period increased 3.7 per cent to 476.6 million kg.
