New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) Reiterating the Delhi Government's commitment to regularise the 1639 unauthorised colonies, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today came down on the ''mischievous and misleading'' statements being issued on the issue by certain elements.
Appealing to the residents of unauthorised colonies to not to be carried over by the mischievous and misleading statements being issued by those elements who are not at all interested in development process and regularisation of colonies, the Chief Minister, in a statement issued here, said,''such statements are being issued due to vested interests and with an intention to create confusion and obstacles in smooth ongoing process of the regulariation, which has reached its final stage only because of the concerted efforts of the city government and the Union Government.'' ''My Government is committed to regularise 1639 colonies at the earliest and it has been taking sincere steps in this direction.
The Government has been providing basic amenities in most of the unauthorised colonies and a lot has been accomplished,''Ms Dikshit said and expressed confidence that her government would be able to fulfill aspirations of 50 lakh poor and middle-class residents of unauthorised colonies.
Ms Dikshit also described as ''baseless'' and ''unwarranted'' the reported statement about cancellation of distribution of provisional certificate as the scheduled distribution on September 17 has only been postponed and not cancelled.
''A fresh date would be made public at the earliest,'' she added.
''The programme for distribution of provisional certificates, scheduled for September 17, has been postponed in view of sad occurrence of serial blasts in the Capital-city. The decision of postponement was also taken because of loss of lives in blasts. It would not been proper and in fitness of things to organize such programme in shadow of grief,''the Chief Minister said.
