Kaithal, Sep 17 (UNI) About 30,000 pilgrims took a dip in the holy tank at Faral village, 25 km from here, on the third day of Phalgu 'mela' today.
A number of them offered "pind dan" for their ancestors in the wake of 'shradhs'. The 'mela' will continue till September 29.
Deputy Commissioner Vikas Gupta reviewed the mela arrangements and informed media persons that the administration had got insured 10 lakh pilgrims during the 'mela. The Oriental Insurance company will pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of victim in the event of accident within a radius of 2 km of mela area .
He said that two temporary bus stands and five other spacious parkings had been set up for the convenience of passengers. A temporary hospital had also been set up in which as many as 40 doctors will perform duty by rotation .
Besides 8 health posts and one ayurvedic hospital had also been set up. Nine ambulances, 21 pharmacists and 77 other health workers would remain deployed in the mela area to provide health services to needy pilgrims.
Five fire tenders will be available to meet any eventuality and six big generating sets had been kept ready for power backup. At number of places flex boards having important telephone numbers and other relevant information concerning mela had been installed for the convenience of pilgrims.
