'Star Trek' star 'Mr. Sulu' marries beau of 21 years
New York, Sept 16 : Star Trek's George Takei and his longtime partner, Brad Altman, have tied the knot in a Buddhist ceremony held in Los Angeles.
Fellow 'Star Trek' stars Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig Nichols and Koenig served as the maid of honour and best man in the ceremony.
"All I can remember is what the priest said. That this moment will never happen again. It's something to savor," the New York Daily News quoted Takei, a telling People magazine.
Takei, who played Mr. Sulu in the hit sci-fi series, and Altman, 54, said their vows while standing in a circle of yellow rose petals in front of 200 guests, before relocating to the Japanese American National Museum where their reception was held.
The actor, who publicly came out in an October 2005 issue of Frontiers magazine, declared in Maay that he plans to marry his beau of 21 years after California's Supreme Court legalized gay marriage.
The couple obtained a marriage license in June in front of well-wishers, posing for pictures while Takei worked his famous hand maneuver.
