Re 1 kg rice scheme launched throughout TN
Chennai, Sep 16 (UNI) A day after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi launched the ''Rupee a kg Rice Scheme'' on the occasion of the birth centenary of DMK Stalwart C N Annadurai, his ministerial colleagues launched the scheme throughout the State today.
Mr Karunanidhi had launched the scheme at R K Nagar Assembly Constituency in the city yesterday, fulfilling the dream of his mentor and Former Chief Minister Anna who had announced ''Rupee a Measure (less than a kg) Rice Scheme'' in the run upto the 1967 Assembly elections but could not implement it on coming to power.
After Mr Karunanidhi released the plan, his Ministerial colleagues and Union Ministers launched the scheme throughout the State today.
Senior DMK Leaders and Ministers, including K Anbazhagan, Aroct N Veerasamy and M K Stalin launched the scheme in their respective Assembly constituencies.
Other Ministers started the plan in their respective districts.
Union Ministers A Raja, S Regupathy, Venkatapathy, S S Palanimanickam and Ms Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan launched the scheme at various places.
