Mumbai has been a target for terror attacks with blasts in local trains, in BEST buses, Gateway of India, Zhaveri Bazaar, Vile Parle Market and other places. Between 1988 and 2008 there had been over 20 blasts in Mumbai, leaving 497 dead and 2053 injured.
