Mumbai, Sep 16 (UNI) The city police today cracked a double murder-cum-robbery case within 24 hours of the incident, with the arrest of two people here.
The police also recovered valuables worth Rs ten lakh from the duo.
Addressing mediapersons here, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Archana Tyagi said the police arrested Ajay Bahadur Singh, a servant of the house, from Ghatkopar and Yadu Singh, watchman of the building, from Vile Parle.
Police have recovered jewellery and cash worth Rs 10 lakh from their possession out of total robbery of Rs 16 lakh. The valuables were stolen from the house by the robbers after committing the double murder at Shobhana building, Santacruz in western suburbs yesterday.
The robbers brutally killed Ushaben Parikh (74) and her grandson Harsh (12) and then fled with jewellery worth over Rs 12 lakh and cash of Rs four lakh from the cupboard yesterday afternoon.
Ms Tyagi said two persons were still at large and police have launched a manhunt for them.
