New Delhi, Sep 16 (UNI) Lieutenant General A K S Chandele, the Director General of Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers and the Colonel Commandant and Prof P B Sharma, Director of Delhi College of Engineering have been conferred the prestigious 'Eminent Engineers Award 2008' by the Institution of Engineers (India).
The awards were given away on the occasion of 41st Engineers Day yesterday. Eminent engineers from Railways, Defence and other public and private sector enterprises were present.
The 'Engineers Day' commemorates the birth of M Visvesvarya, a towering personality in the history of Indian engineering who was conferred Bharat Ratna in recognition of his invaluable contribution in the fields of construction and public transportation. Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General A K S Chandele stated that the Army has made immense contribution in the preservation of environment. The Corps of EME has been nominated as nodal agency to monitor phasing out of Ozone Depleting Systems being used in the Army, he said.
