JD(S) seeks fund release for relief works in Bidar
Bangalore, Sep 16 (UNI) Karnataka unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) today urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to direct the state government to release funds for taking up relief works in flood-hit areas of Bidar district.
Party State President Merajuddin Patel, in a letter to the Governor, said crops in more than 5,000 hectares were damaged, while 800 houses were destroyed in the recent floods in the district.
Roads and bridges were the worst-affected by the heavy rains, he added.
