Bhopal, Sep 16 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to bestow state-level Dadhichi awards every year to the social activists and organisations for their outstanding contribution towards the welfare of handicapped on World Handicapped Day on December 3.
Official sources said today that the awards had been constituted to encourage special efforts made for the uplift of physically challenged people by social workers or social organisations.
Final touches are being given to the rules neomg framed in this regard.
'Madhya Pradesh Maharishi Dadhichi Puraskar' would be given in four categories - hearing impaired, visually challenged, orthopaedically challenged and mentally challenged.
Along with a citation, cash award of Rs one lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 would be given for the first, second and third prize winners.
A jury constituted by the state government would select the awardees.
The entries would be invited in May every year and it would be submitted by the social worker or any person acquainted by his social work or any social organisation. Any eligible person, who would apply should have experience in his field and possesses all the necessary documents. The nominees would be invited as guest of the state. The entry once submitted would be eligible for three years.
Government and semi-government officials would not be eligible for the award.
