Patna, Sep 16 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today slammed the BJP for its demand to create a separate area for Kasmiri Pandits in the valley, saying the demand was against the spirit of the Constitution.
Former minister and LJP state president Pashupati Kumar Paras described the demand by the BJP national president Rajnath Singh in the opening address of the party's three-day National Executive Meet for creation of a separate area within the Kashmir valley for Padits was against the spirit of the Constitution.
In a sarcastic remark, Mr Paras said, '' There will be no wonder if the BJP demands for creation of separate areas for SC/ST religious minorities to ensure their security and welfare. '' He referred to the ''atrocities'' committed on these deprived sections and said crimes were being committed against Dalits.
'' Even 33 per cent of the village public health workers refuse to visit Dalits' homes and in about 48.4 per cent villages they are denied access to water sources, '' he stated.
Mr Paras pleaded that the need of the hour was to assuage the feelings of all the communities and encourage national integration.
The BJP, however, was practising ''divisive'' policies for petty electoral gains, Mr Paras said.
