10 kg poppy straw seized on NH in Ramban
Jammu, Sep 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police seized ten kilograms of poppy straw from a truck, which was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu, at Patnitop in Ramban district, sources here said today.
''Based on specific information, an operation was launched at Patnitop last evening and a Jammu bound truck was intercepted by the police,'' the sources said.
The driver, however, managed to flee from the site leaving the vehicle.
''Police recovered 10 kg of poppy straw from the truck, which was being smuggled from Srinagar. The contraband along with the vehicle was seized while the hunt was on to nab the absconding driver,'' the sources added.
A case under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) has been registered against the accused.
