Gulbarga, Sep 15 (UNI) Inquilab-E-Deccan Editor and Publisher Moiden Pasha today lodged a complaint against former Karnataka Minister and Congress Legislator Qumar-Ul-Islam alleging that the latter's followers had threatened him for publishing a news item.
Mr Pasha also wrote to Home Minister V S Acharya and Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar seeking security.
He said the news item related to a cheque bounce case involving Mr Islam. Mr Islam had issued a cheque for Rs 42 crore to Syed Akbar and the cheque bounced, following which a court in Hyderabad issued a warrant against Mr Islam on September five.
He alleged that Mr Islam's followers burnt the news papers and wrote threatening letter to him . ''If this is the situation, media can not function in an independent manner,'' Mr Pasha said.
