Pune Ganpati immersions ends in festive mood
Pune, Sep 15 (UNI) The Ganpati Immersion procession in the city, one of the largest in the country, ended peacefully after a long exercise of 28 hours and 45 minutes.
The procession, which started at 1030 hrs yesterday, came to an end with immersion of the last idol of Jai Maharashtra Mitra Mandal Of Kashewadi at 1445 hrs at Lakadi Pull, one of the major immersion point in the city.
Joint Commissioner of Police Rajendra Sonawane said that adequate security arrangements were made for the immersion procession. The city has around 3,000 registered and around 4,000 unregistered mandals.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had installed a reception Pandal near Alka Talkies Chowk in Sadashiv Peth to welcome the mandals participating in the Ganesh Procession.
City Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale, Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar and BJP MLA Girish Bapat were present during the occasion.
Meanwhile, Police have registered cases against three mandals for violating the prescribed noise levels during the immersion procession.
