Indian judokas grab 11 golds in South Asian Championship

New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) India virtually made a clean sweep claiming 11 of the 12 gold medals at stake in the South Asian judo Championship which was held at Kathmandu from September 11 to 14.

India was represented by a 12 member team - 6 boys and 6 girls - in the championship and barring Sunibala Devi (70kg) who earned a silver all others claimed gold.

With 11 gold and one silver, India came first, while host Nepal took the second place followed by Afghanistan at the third spot in the tournament.

The gold medal winners were: Boys: Veerbhan (55kg), Veer Bhadur Thapa (60kg), Manjeet Nandal (66kg), Kuldeep Kumar (73kg), Kh Yaima Singh (81kg), Rajinder Singh (90kg).

Girls: O Bidyalaxmi Devi (44kg), Y Sangita Devi (48kg), Rohini B Patil (52kg), Th Kalpana Devi (57kg), Garima Chaudhary (63 kg).
