Fake notes of over Rs five lakh seized; two arrested
Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) Police today arrested two people in connection with the fake currency racket and siezed counterfeit notes amounting to over Rs five lakh.
A police team led by Police Suprerintendent Siddharth Nagar nabbed two people-- Zakir and Mamta Shahi--from Khesra area of the Siddharth Nagar district for allegedly running a fake currency racket.
The arrested were residents of Bihar, sources said.
Fake Indian currency of Rs 1000, 500, 100 and 50 denomination amounting to a total of Rs five lakh fifty thousand and seven fifty were recovered from their possession, they said.
A case has been registered in the Khesra Police station and search is on to arrest their other accomplices.
Earlier, Reserve Bank of India officials had seized fake currency of more than Rs one crore from Domariyaganj branch of State Bank of India in August.
