Attack on church: Security beefed up in Kerala town
Kasargod,Kerala, Sep 15 (UNI) Security has been tightened in Kasargod Town today following an attack on a place of worship and an school run by a minority community in the district bordering Karnataka.
Police said window panes of Jai Mata School, where prayer was being conducted following renovation work at St Joseph Church at Kottamani Road, was damaged in the attack last night allegedly by Bajrang Dal activists, prompting the authorities to enforce strict security measures in the localities.
Flex board and grotto of the church was also damaged in the attack, police added.
Five people, including three policemen, were injured when police fired in the air to quell a mob protesting the attack on nine places of worship in the southern districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikmagalur, bordering Kasargod yesterday.
