AFI to conduct athletics event for youths

New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Athletics Federation of India (AFI) will conduct athletics event for youths during the trial games at Balewadi Stadium, Pune from September 19 to 21.

The trials would be the final selection opportunity for athletes participating in the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games which are scheduled to be held at Pune in October this year, an AFI release said here today.

Athletes, who have won medals during 2007-08 in any National Junior Athletics Championships conducted by AFI and were born on January 1, 1990 or later are eligible to participate in these trial Games.

The Events for which Trials will be conducted are: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m/3000m, 110mH(M)/100mH(W), Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, Hammer Throw, Shot Put, 4x100m Relay, 4x400m Relay.
