Srinagar, Sep 15 (UNI) Fresh fruit was one of the 23 items forwarded to Pakistan for cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade through Srinagar- Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawlakote roads.
The lists of items for cross-LoC trade had since been exchanged between India and Pakistan and broadly agreed upon, an official spokesman said here today.
Reacting to media reports that fruit has been excluded from the list of items for the cross-LoC trade, he said the report was baseless.
This was an attempt to create confusion in the public mind, he said.
He said list of 23 items was forwarded to Pakistan for the trade and fresh fruit was one of them.
He said not only the fresh fruits but also Kashmiri dry fruits were on the list for the proposed cross-LoC trade.
The spokesman regretted that newspapers should have published the story without cross-checking the facts with the concerned official quarters.
Opening of roads with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) was one of the main demand of the Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the present agitation in Kashmir.
Thousands of people made a symbolic attempt to cross over to Muzaffarabad, capital of POK, last month following alleged economic blockade in Jammu where Kashmiri drivers were attacked during Amarnath land row.
