Punjab Police, AI for Guru Tegh Bahadur Gold Cup Hockey Tourney

Mumbai, Sep 14 (UNI) Top outfits Punjab Police and Air India (AI) are among fifteen teams who will take part in the All India Guru Tegh Bahadur Gold Cup Hockey tournament, to commence at the Mahindra Stadium here from tomorrow.

The Punjab cops and AI have been seeded into the quarter-finals along with Punjab National Bank and Indian Oil, as per the draw released by the tournament organisers Mumbai Hockey Association (MHA).

Defending champions Punjab and Sind Bank are not participating in the tournament, that will be played till September 22, MHA secretary Kehar Singh said, adding that prize money of Rs 1.5 lakh was at stake.

The participating teams are: Air India, Oil and Natural Gas Commission, Central Railway, Mumbai Customs, Indian Navy, Hyderabad XI, Punjab Police, Punjab National Bank, Western Railway, Maharashtra State Police, Sports Authority of India, Border Security Force, Mumbai Port Trust, Tamil Nadu XI and Indian Oil.
