Iran issues 2,50,000 e-visas to tourists
Dubai, Sep 14: In a measure that could be emulated by India, Iran has simplified tourist visa procedures and issued visas electronically for the first time to 2,50,000 foreign tourists.
The visas were issued over the last six months in electronic format via a Foreign Ministry website, Iranian news agencies said quoting Foreign Ministry officials. Tourists can now receive their electronic tourist visa in less than 72 hours following confirmation of the application. Foreign tourists can visit the Iranian Foreign Ministry website at www.electronicvisa.ir. After filling out the application form and entering the required details, the user will be given a reference code to pursue the visa application.
Once approved, applicants can choose to receive their visa either at Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport or at an official agency in their home country.
