Puducherry, Sep 13 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today demanded the disqualification of three independent legislators, if the law permitted, 'for becoming associate members of the Congress.' Addressing the press here, Mr Anbazhagan took strong exception to the reported move of the government to accomodate them as chairmen of government corproations and said all of them had contested against the candidates of the Congress.
People had elected them as the previous MLAs failed to perform properly.
However, after getting elected, the three legislators extended support to the Congress, 'which could not be tolerated.' Opposing the government's' pocket money scheme' to school children, Mr Anbazhagan said it was unwanted even as several schools were functioning under trees owing to lack of buildings.
Instead of providing pocket money, the should concentrate on construction of school buildings.
Dismissing the need for ''Goondas Act'' he said proper implementation of National Security Act and giving a free hand to the police would have the necessary impact.
The Act would be misused by those who exhorted their party cadre to treat the Opposition as ''enemy''parties,he claimed.
Opposing the move to hand over the government medical college building to the ESI Corporation, Mr Anbazhagan said it was wrong for Chief Minister V Vaithilingam to favour private parties in all aspects and also to hand over the government medical college building to the ESIC.
The AIADMK would organise agitations against this after obtaining permission from the party high command,he added.
