Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI)Sponsored by real estate firm Alliance Group,India's top cueists, including World Champion Pankaj Advani and Former World Champion Geet Sethi, will be vying for honours at the first ASCA All India Invitation Snooker Championship to be held here from September 15 to 21.
The Rs 1.30 lakh winner's prize money meet, the highest in any tournament in the country, will also have other stars like Devendra Joshi, Ashok Shandilya, Rupesh Shah, Alok Kumar, Manan Chandra, Sourav Kothari and Rafat Habib taking on local talents like Loganathan, Girish, Nadeen, Harpreet Singh, Saleem and Prem Prakash, the Organising Committee announced at a press conference at the Andhra Social&Cultural Association(ASCA) premises last night.
The tournment will be conducted on league-cum-knock-out basis with the legaue phase comprising four groups of four players each.
The top two in each group will qualify for the knock out phase.
Complimenting the organisers for conducting this championship with the highest prize money, Geet Sethi, who flew in here from Bangalore after the IBSA World Time and Point Format Championship, said such competitions were crucial for upcoming cueists and to sustain the sport which had seen India producing world beaters.
The top cueists playing in this tournament had won 21 world titles between themselves, he observed.
