Lalu creating hurdles in Rs 8922 Cr rehabilitation package :JD(U)
Patna, Sep 13 (UNI) The JD(U) today alleged that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad was trying to gain political mileage from the devastating floods in Bihar and also creating hurdles in getting rehabilitation package from the Centre.
National spokesperson of the party and MP Shivanand Tiwari told newspersons here that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad was trying to get electoral mileage from the floods in a bid to seek political rehabilitation for himself.
'' The people of Bihar would not tolerate such gimmicks of Mr Prasad and teach him a lession in the coming Lok Sabha election,'' he added.
Mr Tiwari lambasted former Bihar Water Resources Minister Jagdanand Singh, alleging that the system had totally collapsed during the latter's regime. Instead of constructive investments, Mr Singh spent the fund in fighting cases in courts and also on providing compensation, he stated.
''If the entire functioning of Water Resources Department during the tenure of Mr Singh is probed impartially, the former minister would find himself behind the bars'', Mr Tiwari said adding it was Mr Singh who withdrew several systems which had been introduced for maintenance of Kosi embankments.
He further blamed Mr Prasad for creating obstructions in granting of rehabilitation package of Rs 8,922 crore from the Centre, as requested by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
