Jignas secures berth in Indian squad for World Championship

Vijayawada, Sep 13 (UNI) Local boy CH Jignas has secured a berth in the Indian squad to participate in the fourth World Sub-junior Archery Championship to be held at Antalya in Turkey from October 3 to 10.

According to Krishna District Archery Association (KDAA) President Satyanarayana, Jignas, the 15-year-old class Xth student exhibited extraordinary skills at the two selection meets held at Jamshedpur and Kolkata to earn his berth in the Indian squad.

Satyanarayana said Jignas stood first in the double FITA segment at Jamshedpur trials and at Kolkata, garnered 2,745 points out of 2,800 to set a rew record.

''Jignas was at present the current sub-junior national champion and is ranked third in the junior segment,'' the KDAA President said.

In the seniors, he occupied 12th place and had been selected for the Indian camp for the Common-wealth games to be held at New Delhi in 2010.

Jignas evinced interest in archery in 2002 and since then been undergoing training with International archer CH Lenin, Satyanarayana added.
