Insurance scheme for construction workers

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has introduced an insurance scheme 'Jan Shree Bima Yojana' for the construction workers.

A spokesman of the Board said, under the scheme, for which nothing would be charged from the workers, payment of sum assured of Rs 30,000 would be given to the nominee in case of natural death of the life assured and payment of sum assured of Rs 75,000 to the nominee in case of death and to the life assured in case of total disability or loss of two eyes or two limbs or one eye and one limb in an accident of the life assured.

Similarly, benefit of payment of sum assured of Rs 37,500 to the life assured in case of loss of one eye or one limb in an accident would be given.

To avail the benefits of the scheme the worker should get himself registered after paying a prescribed fee of Rs 25 once in life and monthly contribution of Rs five.

Every building or other construction worker who has completed 18 years of age and 90 days of service as building worker in a year could get himself or herself registered with the Board.
