Srinagar, Sep 13: In an attempt to cover the period which was wasted due to recent disturbances, the Education Department (ED) in Kashmir valley has asked all Principals and Head Masters of government educational institutions to take extra classes.

Education sector was the worst hit during the two-month-long agitation on Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land row.

The ED has issued a circular to all Principals and head masters directing them to make efforts to cover up the deficiency in the conduct of teaching process due to recent disturbances, by taking extra classes daily in lieu of morning assembly and recess periods.

It has directed the concerned heads to ensure presence of teachers and other staff members so that students receive education on various subjects during the extra periods and the syllabi is completed.

The circular adds that extra classes should be organised before or after the scheduled school timing and extra periods be carved out by curtailing the morning assembly, recess, work experience, physical education and music periods.

It also says the unit tests be conducted with routine classroom transaction to avoid wastage of time.

The officers have been asked to monitor the classroom transactions and submit a report regarding completion of syllabus and teacher attendance to authorities concerned.
