Shillong, Sep 12 (UNI) The women's wing of the United Democratic Party (UDP), a coalition partner of Meghalaya Peoples Alliance (MPA), has extended its full support to the government led by Dr Donkupar Roy.
In a statement after its general council meeting yesterday, the women's wing said the organisation had full faith on the leadership of Dr Roy as the party president and the chief minister.
The statement came amid speculations that the MPA government would not last long due to the alleged efforts of Congress for toppling it with the help of some disgruntled MLAs belonging to coalition.
Besides the chief minister, NCP leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma and State Assembly Speaker Bindo Lanong felt that the MPA was committed to complete its full-term in power and there was no threat to it.
Both Dr Roy and Mr Lanong alleged that a section of print media were publishing false reports that some disgruntled UDP MLAs were making efforts to join hands with the Congress in a bid to topple the MPA government.
