Rs 2.75 alloted to Tamil Nadu district
Perambalur, Sep 12: Perambalur District in Tamil Nadu was allotted Rs 2.75 crore under the Farmers Social Security Scheme and about Rs 1.84 crore has been disbursed as assistance under various heads to 1,995 farmers, according to Special Commissioner, Land Reforms, Tamil Nadu Government, Prabhakar Rao.
Mr Rao, who is also the Member-Secretary of the Farmers Social Security Project in a review meeting held here yesterday said Ariyalur District had been allotted Rs 3.88 crore.
He said steps were taken to issue identity cards to all eligible farmers in both the districts.
Later, chairing a similar meeting at Pudukottai, Mr Rao said Pudukottai district had been allotted Rs 7.18 crores under the scheme during 2007-08 and 2008-09. Identity cards have been issued to 2.56 lakh farmers in the district, he added.
