Rupee declines to 45.71/72 per US Dollar
Mumbai, Sep 12: The Rupee continued the downtrend against greenback and fell to a low of 45.71/72 per US Dollar on offshore demand in the inter bank foreign exchange (forex) market on Friday, Sep 12.
The Indian currency dropped 15 paise from its overnight close of 45.56/57 per dollar in the opening trade, as banks bought dollars locally to sell them in the offshore market and take advantage of the price difference, dealers said. The central bank sold US dollars through state-run banks around 45.70 to 45.75 per dollar, but the quantum of intervention was not very large, dealers added.
