Patna, Sep 12 (UNI) State Water Resources Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav today alleged that the RJD was engaged in politicising the Bihar flood for electoral gain in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Mr Yadav told reporters here that former Water Resources Minister and senior RJD leader Jagdanand Singh was giving misleading statements on the circumstances leading to the breach of Kosi embankment in Kushaha in Nepal on August 18.
''There is no point in questioning the constitution of judicial commission for probe into the breach of Kosi embankment,'' Mr Yadav said, adding, the terms of reference of the judicial commission and that of the committee constituted by the Centre in this regard were different.
Mr Yadav said there was no justification to say that the constitution of judicial commission was not required, as the Centre had already consitituted a committee to inquire into the matter.
Later, national spokesman of the RJD Shyam Rajak told reporters that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should present the account of expenses from the Rs 1,000 crore package announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the flood victims of Bihar.
Mr Rajak also said the JD(U) leaders were making irrational statements on the flood issue due to their ignorance of it.
