Punjab to implement Rs 1000 cr water and sewerage plan soon

Phagwara, Sep 12 (UNI) Punjab Government was committed to providing basic amenities like drinking water and sewerage facilities to the entire population of the state and the government has chalked out a comprehensive plan of Rs 1000 crore for the purpose, Punjab Water Supply and Sewrage Board's newly-appointed Chairman Baldev Chawla said here today.

While talking to UNI here, Dr Chawla, here to pay his obeisance in historical temple Shri Hanuman Garrhi after his appointment, said that Rs 360 crore would be spent in Amritsar, Rs 241 crore in Ludhiana, Rs 100 crore in Jalandhar, Rs 26 crore in Bhatinda, Rs 23 crore in Malout, Rs 42 crore in Zirakpur, Rs 47 crore in Pathankot, Rs 13 crore in Sunam, Rs 28 crore in Giddarbaha and Rs 14 crore in Talwandi Sabo.

Replying a question, Dr Chawla assured to send balance amount of Rs 5.26 crore of the Rs 8.6 crore announced by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for the local Sewerage project, of which only Rs 3 crore had been so far received in three instalments.
