Jammu court directs police to book SSP
Jammu, Sep 12 (UNI) A local court has directed the Jammu and Kashmir police to book Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in connection with the police firing in Samba during Amarnath land agitation in which two local youths were killed.
Acting on the complaint lodged by Chanchal Singh and Khem Raj Pandha, parents of deceased Sanjeev Singh and Sunny Pandha who were killed in firing, the chief judicial magistrate yesterday directed the Crime Branch to register a complaint under the provision of CrPC and submit the report within 15 days.
''SSP Prabhat Singh has already been transferred from Samba to Doda and replaced by SSP Raghubir Singh,'' official sources said.
However, the complainants have alleged that the SSP opened fire without issuing any warning to peacefully agitating protestors and he also had no orders from the district magistrate to open fire, sources added.
Sanjeev and Sunny were killed in Samba police firing on August 4 during agitation over Amarnath land row spearheaded by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti.
