Dimapur flooded by rainwater, flights cancelled
Kohima, Sep 12(UNI) Heavy downpour accompanied by thunderstorm since yesterday lashed Dimapur where rainwater entered houses in low lying areas, disrupting normal life.
Following the downpour several families have been evacuated to safer places today.
Official sources said rainwater flooded Dhobinullah, Supermarket, Nagarjan belt, Burma Camp, New Dhansiri Bridge, Walford, Sachu colony, Naga Gaon, Kher Mahal, D Colony, Netaji Colony, Naharbari and the Airport area as a result three flights to and from Dimapur were cancelled as the runway was flooded with rainwater.
All educational institutions were closed and examinations had to be deferred as the water flooded the institutions as well.
Due to clear weather this morning, logged water started receding, sources added.
