CM inaugurates 'Indian Panorama'
Puducherry, Sep 12 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam today inaugurated the ''Indian Panorama 2008'', a festival of Indian films.
Tamil film ''Periyar'' was adjudged the best film.
The Chief Minister presented the Sankardas Swamigal Award, carrying a cash of Rs 50,000 and a citation to film Director Gnana Rajasekeran at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vaithilingam said the cash award was enhanced this year from Rs 10,000 and steps would be taken to organise the film festival in a much more grand manner in the coming years.
The festival opened with the screening of ''Periyar'' Kathaparayumbol(Malayalam), Ammuvagiya Naan(Tamil), Haram (Hindi) and Anuranan(Bengali) would be screened in the festival which would go on till September 15.
