BMW driver arrested; critical victim slips into coma

New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) A day after his speeding BMW hit two men on a motorcycle near Moolchand flyover, leaving one critically injured, accused Utsav Bhasin was arrested from the Kashmere Gate area in North Delhi this morning.

Utsav Bhasin, 19, was taken to the AIIMS for medical examination soon after his arrest at about 0700 hrs, a senior police official said.

''Utsav Bhasin was arrested from ISBT Kashmere Gate while trying to flee Delhi.'' He is being questioned, he said, adding that a Test Identification Parade (TIP) might also be done on him.

''The auto driver, who saw him fleeing the spot after the accident has said that he recognises the accused who was driving the car,'' he added.

A former alumni of Delhi Public School (passed Class XII in 2006), Utsav lived in Punjabi Bagh and was returning from a party in Greater Kailash when the accident took place.

His father Narendra Bhasin is a businessman in China.

Meanwhile, critically injured Anuj today slipped into a coma after his condition showed no signs of improvement.

His collegue Mrigank is recovering fast and might be discharged later today, said doctors.

The BMW car, being driven by Utsav Bhasin, hit the two men on a motorcycle near Moolchand flyover in South Delhi at about 0300 hrs yesterday.

It later hit a pavement and stopped from where Utsav, who was with his sister, fled on an autorickshaw.

The auto driver, who later informed the police, saw him breaking the window pane of the car and fleeing the scene along with his sister.
