60 cadets on 65-day expedition of IOR nations to mark 60 yrs of NDA
New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) To mark the diamond jubilee celebrations of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla (Pune), its officers and cadets would undertake a sailing expedition to Indian Ocean Region (IOR) countries between September 21 to November 24 this year.
Two groups of 62 people, including two officers and 60 cadets, will take part in the expedition on board 'INS Tarangini', according to the Defence ministry.
Besides providing first hand experience of the sea and imbuing naval qualities of courage, comradeship and endurance, the expedition will provide participants an opportunity to interact with officers and cadets of other countries.
The 65-day expedition would be flagged off by Vice-Admiral S K Damle (AVSM, NM, VSM), Flag Officer Commanding at the Chief Southern Naval Command, from Kochi and will take participants to the ports of Salalah (Oman), Port Victoria (Seychelles), Male (Maldives) and Colombo (Sri Lanka) covering a distance of nearly 4,900 nautical miles.
