12 villages in Junagadh Dist put on alert
Rajkot, Sep 12 (UNI) As many as 12 villages situated downstream of Zanjeli dam in Visavadar taluka of Junagadh district have been put on alert following rainfall in the catchment areas.
The dam has been filled to its full capacity and the people of these villages have been advised to move to safer places and not to move near the riverbed site, a report from Junagadh said.
The villages that have been put on alert include Mahudi, Mahuda, Khambhalia, Khijadiya, Munjala, Shetrunj-vadala, Dhelar, Desai-vadala, Sukhpar, Rupawati, Ishwaria and Vajadi, the report said.
Rajkot city and many parts of the Saurashtra region have experienced light to heavy showers in the past 24 hours.
The rains may be helpful for the crops, agricultural experts opined.
Reports of moderate to heavy showers were reported from other parts like Jetpur, Upleta, Tankara and Morbi of the district and other parts of Saurashtra region such as Dhrol, Bhesan, Ranavav, Visavadar, Jamjodhpur, Junagadh city and some parts of Bhavnagar district.
