Rupee hits fresh 2-yr-low at Rs 45.40/41 per USD
Mumbai, Sep 11: The Rupee on Thursday, Sep 11 hit a fresh two-year low at Rs 45.40/41 per US Dollar as US unit strengthened against Euro and Indian bourses extended the down fall in the opening trade.
The partially convertible Indian currency also touched an intraday low of Rs 45.47 per dollar, weakest since November 24, 2006, sheding over 35 paise from its previous close of Rs 45.12/13 per dollar, dealers said. Traders were seen buying dollars in the domestic market and selling them in the offshore market, where the rupee was much weaker, a senior dealer with a leading private sector bank said.
