Reliance donates Rs110 mn aid for flood-hit Bihar
Patna, Sep 11: Reliance Industries Ltd on Wednesday, Sep 10 donated Rupees 110 million aid to flood victims of Bihar. Neeta Ambani, the wife of Reliance CMD Mukesh Ambani, presented a cheque of the above amount to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"This contribution is symbolic of our sympathy and deep commitment to elevate the hardships to the unfortunate victims from the havoc of the Kosi River," Neeta Ambani said. With the flood waters receding, the focus has shifted from rescue and relief to checking outbreak of disease and rehabilitation. The state government has ordered a judicial inquiry into river Kosi embankment breach. Floods have caused large-scale loss of life and property in six districts of the state since August, following an over 2,000-metre breach in the Kosi river embankment in neighbouring Nepal.
