Rahul visits flood affected districts in Gorakhpur division
Gorakhpur, Sep 11 (UNI) After paying a visit to flood-affected regions in Bihar, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi today visited disaster-hit districts in Gorakhpur division.
Mr Gandhi, who was on his two-day tour to take stock of the flood situation in Gorakhpur division, reached Deoria this morning, where at the railway station he met SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's son and MP Akhilesh Yadav and had a brief talk with him over the deluge situation in eastern UP.
Mr Gandhi's stay was arranged in a guest house, where he learnt that river Narayani was turning it's coarse towards the populated area in Kushinagar district following which he left for the district.
After paying visit at the affected villages of Kushinagar, Mr Gandhi reached Gorakhpur, where around 1800 hrs he flagged off Central government funded four trucks loaded with essential commodities for the calamity victims.
Official sources said Mr Gandhi would stay over night at Gorakhpur guest house and will see the JE patients recuperating in Baba Raghavdas Medical College tomorrow.
