Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 11 (UNI) A woman was killed, while her four relatives were injured when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a passenger train at an unmanned railway crossing on the Sirhind-Nangal section near Maida village today.
According to police sources, the train, Nangal Dam-Ambala passenger train, after hitting the car, dragged it for a couple of metres before coming to a halt.
The deceased woman was identified as Rajwinder Kaur (42). The injured included her husband, Darshan Singh and relatives Bhupinder Singh, Narinder Kaur and Devinder Singh, all residents of Shermajra village near Samana in Patiala district.
The injured were first taken to Bassi Pathana civil hospital, from where they were refered to PGI, Chandigarh.
Rail traffic on the section remained suspended for around 15 minutes due to the accident.
