NCP concerned over Bangladeshi infiltration in NE
Kohima, Sep 11: The Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) has expressed serious concern over Bangladeshi infiltration in the Northeast which gradually changed the demographic pattern in the region.
Addressing a press conference here last night, newly elected president of Nagaland NCP Povotso Lohe said we have achieved a lot in the region and looking forward into the problems of the region.
'' Bangladeshi infiltration is a serious problem for the ethnic people,'' he said, adding neither Central nor Assam government is taking serious note of the issue.
The NCP has adopted resolution on the illegal infiltration, he informed.
When asked about the functioning of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government, he said his party is fully satisfied with their performence.
Referring to Nagaland problem Mr Lohe said it is a national issue which should be solved at the earliest. The NCP is not happy with the fratricidal killings in the state and wants solution of the issue through peaceful means, he said.
He further informed that a five-member team of Nagaland NCP, led by him, will leave for New Delhi soon to meet Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to seek his help for the development of agricultural sector in Nagaland.
The team will also meet Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel to request him to sanction grant for Chethu airport near Kohima for which Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been submitted to the Ministry, he added.
