Lucknow, Sep 11 (UNI) A surprise visit of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to her Secretariat Annexe office today sent officers in a tizzy as barring one, none of them was present there.

Ms Mayawati visited the office at about 0945 hrs and found majority of the officers, including her personal staff, missing from work.

The five-floor Chief Minister Secretariat houses Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh, Principal Secretaries J N Chamber, Ravindra Singh and V K Sharma, secreataries Vijay Singh, Arun Sinha, Kamran Rizvi and Navneet Sahgal.

Principal Secretary Mr Sharma was the only officer present during the Chief Minister's visit as others were yet to start their day which infuriated the Chief Minister.

She was particularly unhappy with the conditions in her own office and warned of stern action against the guilty, sources in the Secretariat Administration Department said.

Ms Mayawati spent about two hours and inspected all the rooms of the office. One of her secretaries, considered to be very close to her was scolded as he was trying to reach there by stairs as the lifts were closed on her order, according to eye witnessess.

This was the first surprise visit by Ms Mayawati after the entry of journalists was banned in her office by an order signed by the same secretary.

Meanwhile, state Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh was summoned by the CM for discussions.
