Mumbai, Sep 11 (UNI) Maharashtra Goveror S C Jamir today welcomed the opening of the Argentina Consulate in the city and said it would give a major boost to strengthening bilateral relations between India and Argentina.
Mr Jamir was interacting with the newly-appointed Consul General of Argentina Fernando Luis Ras, when the latter called on him at Raj Bhavan, this morning.
He said India attached great importance to Latin America and assured that he will extend full support to the Consulate in improving business, trade and cultural relations with India, a Raj Bhavan release said.
The Consul General told Mr Jamir that Argentina and India have shared very warm relations during the last 60 years. The decision of his country to open a Consulate in the city shows Argentina's desire to further strengthen ties with resurgent India, Mr Ras said.
