New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) All 58 Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Communist Party of India (CPI-M) will contribute Rs ten lakh each from their MPLAD Fund for the Bihar flood victims.
They will also contribute a month's salary for the relief fund, Party MP Hanan Mollah said in a statement.
The Left MPs represent both the Houses.
Nearly 30 lakh people bore the brunt of the 'catastrophic' floods in Bihar when the river Kosi changed its course, destroying property worth crores.
The floodwaters inundated vast areas of northeast districts of Bihar, including Supaul, Madhepura and Araria and spread into adjoining districts of Purnea and Saharsa.
According to official reports, 95 people have died so far in the floods. Of these, 36 deaths occurred in the five northeastern districts alone with Saharsa accounting for 16, Madhepura (15) Supaul (three) and Araria and Purnia (one each).
