Cong MLA demands President's rule in Punjab
Chandigarh, Sep 11 (UNI) Terming the expulsion of former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh from the Punjab assembly as 'uncosntitutional', Congress MLA, Sukhpal Khaira today demanded imposition of President's rule in the state.
In a communique addressed to the President of India, the Congress called for imposition of President's rule in order to save democracy in Punjab, which is at peril in the hands of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance.
The Union Government must immediately suspend the Punjab Assembly and recommend President's Rule in the state in the interest of democracy, the letter stated.
" There is complete break down of constitutional machinery in Punjab", the letter said while terming the action of the state Vidhan Sabha against Capt Singh as a clear case of political vendetta on the part of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
