He managed to escape from India despite a lookout notice issued against him at all international airports. He took a flight to New York from Indira Gandhi International Airport(IGI) at the night of Aug 17 leaving the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) embarassed. Soon after his escape, the ATS had cleared him of any involvement in the terror email case. However, during the course of investigation, he was summoned several times and had even undergone a polygraph test.
Ken Haywood is a United States citizen working for an IT firm in Mumbai. Haywood was under the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) scanner for nearly a month after his Wifi account was used to send a terror e-mail to a news channel minutes before the August 26 Ahmedabad blasts.
The ATS later lifted the lookout notice on Haywood and decided to not carry out any further probe into his role in the terror mail. However, the officials will now question him on how he managed to fly out of the country. Haywood who is also an ex-pastor had accused the ATS of corruption. The imigration officials of IGI airport and the ATS had come under severe criticism for overseeing the lookout notice following which an imigration official was suspended. Haywood is expected to meet ATS officials at around 15:00 hrs IST on Thursday, Sep 11.
Sources said that Haywood is expected to continue with his job as communication expert with Mumbai based Campbell White. It's not clear if Haywood will continue his association with Door Christian Centre, a radical Christian group which is also under the scanner. Soon after Haywood was probed by the ATS, the church discontinued its prayer services. The centre used to operate from two rooms at the Sanpada railway station complex, which also doubled up as the Campbell White office.
