New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) The Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) today said 6.3 million users have been signed up by the country's GSM mobile operators in August.
With the addition of this numbers, the GSM subscribers in the country at the end of August stood at 225.6 million, the COAI data said.
During August, Bharti Airtel added 2.7 million users to take its subscriber base to 74.8 million, while the country's third largest operator Vodafone Essar had 52.8 million subscribers.
State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) had signed up 5,73,862 users in August, taking its mobile customer base to 38.5 million.
The numbers do not include August additions by Reliance Communications, which predominantly uses CDMA technology, had 52.5 million users at end-July.
