New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The Congress today denied media reports that Party President Sonia Gandhi snubbed visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Yiechi by not meeting him yesterday following Beijing's opposition to the NSG waiver at the Vienna meeting.
''No meeting was scheduled between Mrs Sonia Gandhi and the Chinese foreign minister,'' Congress spokesperson Shakkel Ahmed told reporters.
According to media reports, the visiting dignitary was not granted an appointment with Mrs Gandhi despite a resquest.
On Chinese stand on the NSG waiver, Mr Ahmed said something must have happened during negotiations but in the end Beijing ''supported us''by consensus.
''The Chinese foreign minister has already categorically stated that they didn't not have any problems (with India getting the waiver)... and there is nothing within our knowledge to contradict it,'' the spokesman said.
